Dr Alex Howard has dedicated the last 23 years of his life to developing clinically proven frameworks to support healing. After a seven-year battle with a chronic illness in his teenage years, he founded the clinic he wished had existed during his own recovery journey. 

The Optimum Health Clinic is now one of the world’s leading clinics specialising in fatigue, anxiety, trauma, sleep issues and depression. Over two decades, Dr Alex and his team of 25 full-time practitioners have supported 10,000+ patients in 50+ countries on their path to healing.

In addition to publishing academic research in the British Medical Journal Open and Psychology and Health, Dr Alex has authored three best-selling books: Why Me?: My Journey from ME to Health and Happiness; Decode Your Fatigue; and It’s Not Your Fault: Why Childhood Trauma Shapes You and How to Break Free. Dr Alex’s books have been translated into nine languages.

In recent years, Dr Alex has created some of the largest online conferences in the health and mind-body space, attended by over two million people. Alex has a PhD in Psychology, is the creator of Therapeutic Coaching®, and in more recent years has been documenting his clinical work with his In Therapy with Alex Howard YouTube series.

Day 1:

The four types of depression

You’ll discover the four key types of depression, and why decoding which one you're experiencing is critical to mapping an effective pathway to change. Dr Alex will also share his personal experiences with healing his own mental and physical health.

Day 2:

The three drivers of mental depression

Dr Alex will unpack the three types of thinking which both cause and perpetuate states of depression. He'll walk you through a checklist to establish which type/s you're using and share practical tips to shift your mindset.

Day 3:

Unpacking emotional depression

People assume that depression is ‘feeling sad all the time’ but actually most people’s experience of depression is a numbness and absence of feeling. Dr Alex will explain the connection between depression and the nervous system, and explain how you can learn to feel your way to happiness.

Day 4:

Depression and your physical body

Depression is about more than just our mind and emotions. When our physical body is out of balance, in particular our hormones, it will drive depressive states. With the help of a special guest, Dr Alex will break down the key principles of how our body affects our mind, and share practical tools to support change.

Day 5:

The hidden cause of depression

Dr Alex will explore a hidden cause of depression and how it can be key to creating a lasting change in your mood. Plus, Dr Alex will bring together all that you learnt from the series to formulate a practical plan for your own healing journey.
